Often referred to as “silent destroyers,” termites are insects that live underground and feed on wood and cellulose. Unfortunately, wood and cellulose are both found on a wide scale in buildings. With termites preferring to stay in the ground away from the open air and sunlight, they create a network of nests as well as mud tube access routes to nearby sources of food and water. While the wood in trees is their prime source of food, they will happily eat away at fence posts, structural timber, or any other wooden fittings in a property. As a result, you should have your home and place of business inspected frequently to avoid any serious damage occurring.
